Meet up with contractor

On wed night we met up with a contractor which is recommended by Cat, first impression with Nicholas is he is a very approachable person. He has been in this line for about 13 yrs, through the whole coversation we knew he is an very experience person n know his stuff well. Although the quotation that he quoted us is around 45K (which is damn x) cos the material he used is of better quality but at least when dear told him our budget is only 20K he asked we guys to treat the quotation as a "shopping list" and see where we can reduce he will try to work out with our budget. Unlike the ID @ IMM just give us that kind of remark "sure exceed 20K one" before even she given me the quotation.

Guess we should have expected the cost to be quite high due to many hacking work, those we are getting new flat can really save a lot on this portion. I have discuss with dear that for sure the kitchen, service yard, 2 toliets, waredore, and platform bed has to be done. The rest will be optional as for the flooring we are thinking of retaining it. Currently, we are still waiting for Zhong Wei to finish the 3D design of the house and the quotation from one of his friend then we decide what to do next.

We will continue again after CNY, for the time being let take a break :)

Synovate CNY dinner

Yesterday night was my company annual CNY dinner and this year it is held @ M Hotel. We reach there around 6plus but waited till 8 plus then started reason been we are waiting for "our guest of honor - an ang mo" who took a flight from Beijing. As most of you know it is snowing terrible in China and his flight was delay for 7 hours. But everyone is complaining hungry plus tomorrow is still a working day :( I just dun understand whyy my company like to arrange events on such day y not a Friday...

While waiting for our guest of honor to arrive, we play a virtual mahjong game. Since last year our company has been divided into 4 teams, so this year the arrangement of the team is still the same. So this is how the game goes, each team will nominate 2 ppl to play for the team, there are a total of 6 puzzles, we need to identify what are the possible missing tiles. Our team won the overall for last year, but guess what for this game we got -13 point lolz cos each mistake there will be a 2 point deducted *pengz* from the 1st to the last one...but ok la let other teams has a chance to win (say this to make us feel better)

Finally, the dinner started we have 8 course meal which consist of yu sheng, shark fins, spinach with abolance, steam groupa, pipa duck, lotus rice, dumplings with red bean soup and lastly fried nian gao.. overall the food taste average... As our company are quite active in charity activities, we have 2 rounds of luck draw whereby each employee write their name on the $ note (min is $2) and all these $ will goes to charity group our company support. The first lucky draw is a 8G ipod touch pad and the next one is $888 cash!!!!

As usual, i am not the winner *sad* hw I wish I can win the $888 then it can contributes to my reno expense... (daydreaming again) Towards the 4th dishes, I can sense that they r trying to end the dinner asap.... (similar to what happening during weddings) Finally, we manage to leave around 10pm and shared a cab with 4 colleagues since all of us stay @ hougang. Total damage of the cab fare is $18.90 (inclusive of ERP $0.50 and CBD $3) which is damn X lor. Lucky is share by 4 of us else i will rather take a train back.... :P

IMM ID

Recently, we has been sourcing for contractors to reno their love nest. We have shortlisted 2 ID and 2 contractors, one of the ID is based in the IMM hub. So let talk about this IMM ID, its a she. Darling and i went down on a saturday's evening to look for her, do the usual stuff like introduction and how we found her blah blah blah........

Apparently, she screw up the moment she started making her 3rd sentence about the main topic. So guess what she did: 1st she ask for our floor plan, 2nd she ask which floor are we staying and we answer her 2nd storey and........the 3rd sentence goes like "Wah, so low ah.........hahahaha" and there was a moment of slience for a few seconds. She added on "Ai yo sometime low storey also good, no need to walk too much." But too late, she cannot redeemed herself, in our mind it goes like "You have screw up".

But still we listened to what's her proposal and plan, after all we came so far from Buangkok and eventually fixed an appointment with her to review the quotation which is on last friday. So on friday, we went to meet her again. Guess how much her quotation was........35k wah lau eh.......my darling and i goes like WTF. She went through the individual items with us and the best part about her quote was the free gift she gave. Free colour glass panels for the kitchen wall, hahahahhaha, i was thinking "Hello friend, other companies are giving away SYSTEM 3 air-con system and you, glass panels, why not i pay for the glass panel and you replaced that with a System 3". This is really a bad deal that the ID had offered, i must be an idoit if i take up the package. This ID is definitely out of our list for the comment she made and the quote she offered.

We will be meeting a contractor on wednesday, hopefully this one turn out to be good.

Unlucky 22nd

Yesterday was an unlucky day for me. First of all, got a last minute recall back to office while i am attending training in HP. Guess you cannot change the fact that last minute stuffs are alway happening at work, what to do just suck it up and swallow it.

Secondly, while i was making my way back to the office in a yellow cab. I was enjoying my good chit-chat seesion with Uncle Zhou when out of a sudden, i felt a slight knock at the back of my seat. Guess what, an uncle in his last 50s drove his car and knock into the back of the cab. It was not a bad knock as the cars were in stationary mode. Guess it wasn't that unlucky after all, otherwise maybe i would end up in some other places.

And after the day of work and last minute requests, all i can do is to go back home and listen to the song "I had a bad day" follow by "Keep on looking at the bright side of life, ..."

Mahjong Fever

Ever since my 2nd brother returned for Taiwan after serving his nation service attachment, there was a on-going Mahjong fever in the house. We never failed to play at least 2 games on a weekly basis.
It was when my little doggy bank started losing weight as each game went by. The major winner for most of the games is my grandma and of coz the biggest loser is me, sometimes my mum too. Sometimes, darling also participated and she join in the loser pool, contributing to "Ah ma"'s success. Well guess old ginger is still spicer, we have to pay more lesson fees.

Photo Selection

Finally, this day has come!! Last Fri, bs n I plus Peilin went down to the bridal shop to selection the photos we took last week. I have asked Peilin along cos I knew she like to looks at pics plus she has missed my fitting, she also act as the "third voter" in case bs n i have any disagreement in any photos. To our amazed all the pics turn out quite nice even before any editing has been done. Peilin was happily looking through the adlum and keep say "this is nice, tat is nice"... BS reply "tat is not very helpful" lolz.... We are suppose to choose 65 pics, both bs and I have agreed to stick with that figures as we have spend abt 4K for the bridal package.

Firstly, we review the adlum once to have a quick look at each photo. Next, we group the photos into the outfit. Since we have 7 outfits, we start with the casual, victorian, evening gowns, outdoor and we ended with out actual outfit for the day. During the selection, at some points we do not know which one to choose, on the other hand, the boss, Roland, keep saying "buy more photos lor...". But we are very determine and at the end we manage to choose 68 photos (include 2 photos on rings and flower which Roland say is a complimentary for us). I am also suppose to confirm the actual evening gown for the day, but was delimma which one to get finally I decide on the red one... hehe....

The whole process lasted for 2 house, but by the time we finish is already 9pm++. Guess what happened when we walked back to the car, BS kena a "summon" for parking at the yellow line... he was like "wat the F***". Total damage is $50. In the end, we headed to "chomp chomp" to have our late dinner....

Lesson learnt:
- Be firm on the num of photos to choose n dun get influence from the boss lolz
- Group the photos into theme for easy selection
- It might be a good idea to get someone else tag along to have a 3rd opinion
- Lastly, dun park at yellow line as these days these "fatima" is damn hard working

Poor BS

Since last year dear has been pestering me to start working on my research project (my final paper to complete my degree). But I have been taking my own sweet time dragging the whole project since I have a year to complete it. Initally planned to complete at least 50% by Dec 2007 but sad to say failed to meet the target. When 2008 arrived, I finally realized so much time has been lost I really got to wake up my idea as not much time is left!!! Plus I need to mail the hard copy to london before 1st May... which mean I have 3 mths to go only shit.... Plus in the first half of 2008 we will be busy with our house reno and wedding preparation, no matter what I need to complete before CNY else I will miss out the whole planning process for house n wedding....

Everyday dear will nag at me "have u done your research today", "hw many pages completed"..... Frankly speaking, at first I am a bit piss off but as time goes by I notice the research project has progress a lot, really appreciate that guess I only learn from the hard way.... I am just too slack so got to have someone by my side to push me.... On the other hand, guess dear is also quite sian have to repeat this and nag everyday :(

Dear thanks for all the nagging these days + enduring with my attitudes (showing you "buay shiong" face, throwing things around) lolz... Please continue to nag at me will try to fine tune my attitude a bit... :)

Return of Cindy

Hi there,

Good news to share with everyone, No.1- my darling has drove on expressway for the first time after acquiring her driving license. The speed went up to 90km/hr, shiok right? The journey was from Tampines Gaint to home via TPE. I am really happy for her and i can tell from her face that night that she was delighted too. See darling, you can do it if you try and have faith in yourself, finally we are one step nearer to boost your confidence level.

No 2.- my darling has gradually recovered from her flu and cough virus thanks to all the "Ang Mo" and chinese medications that she has taken and of coz not to forget the little pinch of care at night from her "nagging hubby", must take some credits what as singaporean mentality, :P.

The viruses seem to be quite powerful as it stay in my darling's hotel for almost a week, but nevertheless we still went out for some sweet dating during the weekend. Had claypot rice with "powerful smelly salted fish" which expolde and melt in your mouth and authentic brewed barley drink that will definitely cool your body down.

Today is also significant as it marks the resume of cindy's exercise regime after taking a 2 weeks plus holiday or should i said detraining peroid. Place her on a 30 min threadmill jog, in hope that she dun collapse half way through.

Happy Cat.

Final meal in 2007 @ Azabu Sabo

We have a nice eating place to recommend called Azabu Sabo another option for japanese food and deserts lovers. After the "secret meeting" with Chua's couple, Dear n I decided to dinner out since it is the last day of a great 2007. So two aimless mice took the MRT from Jurong-East heading towards town area in hope to find some quiet place to have their dinner.
During the ride, Darling asked me the same old question, it goes like "Dear, where are we going to have out dinner" and my lame reply was "See loh.........we will alight at the "one" station that we feel "song". So the sweet loving couple landed in marina sqaure around 7pm and the first thing that came to mind is "Shit, why are there so many people" and my darling told me Esplanade is having count-down and fireworks.
We head towards City Link where we bought a pack of Godiva chocolate and carry on to marina sqaure. We were strolling at the main alley when something attractive caught our eyes. It is the food display cupboard outside the restaurant. What attracts me is their "desserts", yes all of them looks so yummy.... while queuing I was amazed on the wide range of desserts varities they have n keep telling dear I want this and that lolz. We waited for a fair share of time before getting a seat for ourselves ordered a cold ramen with seafood, kimchi pork bento, Japanese rice cake in imperial style sweet red bean soup and fried dumplings with ice cream.
Waited again for a while and the food arrived. The portion was quite ok, not too small for a pair of greedy pigs from the Low family. Well, kind of disppointed with the cold ramen, maybe not use to its coldness and saltyness. But the kimchi pork bento was splendidly cooked, the sourness of the kimchi makes the dish very appetizing which makes you want to have more and the pork is finely slice, tender and juicy.
After our bento, we have our desserts. In simple words, very satisfied with the desserts visually and physically...... check out the pictures and you will understand.

Guess we are too hungry that I forget to snap pics on the main dishes therefore only manage to take the desserts....

My darling is sick

Since the end of the photo shoot, my wife has been sick. It has been 2 days already and she has taken some flu medication but it is not working at all. First, Mr Flu came knocking on her door, then today, guess who else visited? Of coz, his best friend, Mr Cough. They are always a pair.

Got to be more hardworking at night to make sure she has covered herself with blanket and the fan is not blowing toward her. At least, this is smething i can do for her rather than just watching her suffered, really worried and sad! Get well soon, darling!

Our Photoshoot Day

On Monday (7th Jan), dear n I went for our wedding photoshoot. It all start from 10am when we reach the studio, we proceed with the makeup first. This is my first attempt of putting on fake eyelashes, it makes my eyes looks dolly and big and I like it... Of course dear cannot run away from this process, he is require to put on foundation and shape of his eyebrown too (there goes his crayon shin's eyebrown lolz). So guys out there preparing for your wedding shoot, you can't run away from this session :) Overall, we are please with the makeup and hairdo.

Next, we process with the photoshoot session @ around 11 plus. In total we have 7 outfits: casual, victorian, 3 evening gowns, 1 actual gown & 1 outdoor gown. Initially, I am quite worry on how to post and smile but we are glad that the photographer guide us all the way through. We do have some funni shots like dear carrying me, piggyback, having tongue stuck out, making funni faces. The photographer keep asking me to open my eyes and smile more naturally, I think dear is more naturally during the photoshoot. After every outfit we did peep into the photographer's cam n it seem ok. At the end of the day, I guess the pics will looks nice since it will undergo editing lolz.... Due to we have quite a few outfits plus there is some miscom between the makeup artist n bridal shop we only manage to proceed for outdoor shooting around 5 plus. We went to punggol (for the lalang), changi bench and ended @ Fullerton for night scenes. I am kind of disappointed that we did not manage to have more time for outdoor shooting but hopefully our photographer had capture some nice pics for us. By the time we reach home is abt 9pm liao... both of us are so hungry that we had our dinner first.

We have to admit by the end of the day both of us are tired but we enjoy the whole process. Looking forward for the day to select our pics... guess it will be a headache process again...

Tips for those who are going for their photoshoot:
- avoid drinking lots of water the night before (this prevent eye bags as this is diff to be covered by makeup)
- apply masks when is near the photoshoot
- for brides avoid wearing bra the night before and for the actual day (prevent the mark of the bra if your gown happen to be low back)
- for brides try to wear slipper or some old heels for outdoor (as it will sure get dirty, anyway also can't see)
- if happen to have quite a few outfit better check the timing with the bridal shop and make up artist
- last by not else, enjoy the whole process!!

When technology goes wrong

Hi,

As we moved further into the era of modern technology, most of our daily activities evolved around computer esp. microsoft products. However, they are not always error-proof, something they failed and they failed on the user badly. Take a look at the attached picture for example.

Here the story goes: My beloved wife was working on her uni report using Word 2003 and had managed to complete a few pages. she was kinda of "in the zones" and was typing in a "got dragon, got tiger" style. She was about to save the work when suddenly a dialog box pop out stating ERROR so she click ok assuming that she could save her work under an filename. And guess wat happened, the word auto-shut off by itself. What make the situation worse is the original doc was deleted from its location by Words. And that was when i heard a scream from the room follow by some swearing. Everything is gone, start from scratch.

Some lessons to share:

1. Alway have a backup copy of your doc.
2. Never trust technology.
3. Never work off your thumbdrive, had a copy on your desktop.

Cheapo bugular at malaysia

Got a sad story to share which happened recently and it goes like; my mum and uncle drove into Malaysia, Pontian to attend a relative's wedding dinner. The journey was one and a half hour ride to a small town. They parked their car beside the restaurant's kitchen and opposite a automobile shop at around 6.30 pm.

So the wedding kicked off around 7.30pm and while they were having a great dinner, gues what happened at the parking area. The car was broking into by 2 bugulars, they smashed both the left side windows and guess what they had stolen...... a bag of fruits, a bag of clothes and a few stack of "Joss stick and candle". Oh god man, you must be wondering about the kind of stuff they stole, where are their professionalism as bugular. I meant you will usually goes for money, who the hell in the world would stole these kind of stuffs and what make the situation worse, they smashed the car's window just to stole "joss stick and candle". Maybe they are too clever.....

Now the car was send to garage for repair, what a good closure for 2007. On a side note, for those of you who drive into Malaysia, beware of bugulars and robbers be it clever or stupid ones.

My First Time

Hi,

The pace of life is faster than i could imagine and times really fly. In a blink of an eye, i am already 27 going 28 and memory leak is unevitable. So have come out with this idea of blogging in order to keep track of the significant moments of our life together with my sweet and beloved wife, Cindy. In moment to come when we are old, Cindy and i could sit down and flash back on our sweet memories that we have created for each other.

2008 is a year where we are gonna get really busy due to reno and wedding which are happening concurrently. So i would loved to record the daily events happening and share it with my friends and buddies.

Lastly, Happy 2008 to all. A new year, a fresh start.
